The Bible says in Proverbs 14:23, “In all labour there is profit:…” That means anything that I really labour at is profitable for me even when the labour does not accomplish the desired end. God created and established the work ethic in the garden of Eden. But to all too many people, the word work is a dirty, four-letter word. They look at it like a cuss word. They disdain the word “work.” Yet the work ethic is what has made America great.
Description
Great men are never great because of their talent or their brilliance, even though they may possess both talent and brilliance. Their greatness is in their work ethic. Everything God made, He made in wisdom. When God made work for Adam and Eve, He made it in wisdom. Work is not bad, but good. The Bible says God gave Adam and Eve work to do before the fall. Work was not part of the curse. When God created everything and gave Adam and Eve responsibility and work to do. He looked at all of it and said it was “very good.” God established the work ethic in the garden of Eden prior to the fall of man.
In the Scriptures, this word work appears 413 times. If God mentions something once, it is important. If He mentions it 413 times, that is a major topic in the Word of God. The subject of work is not preached on a great deal. It is not very popular to try to teach people to work hard. The union philosophy in America to try to get more benefits and higher pay for less work has undermined the work ethic and driven a lot of industry out of the country.
