In generations of yester-year, folks would refer to some preachers as “holiness” preachers, because they preached against sin and for separation from the world in terms of dress, language, habits, activities, but true Biblical holiness is much different.
Description
In generations of yester-year, folks would refer to some preachers as holiness preachers, because they preached against sin and for separation from the world in terms of dress, language, habits, activities…
But true Biblical holiness is much different. It is not just the “putting off” of sin, but the “putting on” (and in) of Christ’s righteousness. It is not just what we do, but who we are. It is not being religious, but actually being spiritual. It is not only the motion and the action, but the motive and the attitude. It is not necessarily obedience out of fear or obligation, but it should come from love and appreciation It should not just be the absence of compromise and impurity, but it should be the presence of consecration and purity.
If we have that true Biblical inward holiness that God sees and desires in each of us, it will work itself outward into holiness that man sees and expects of the yester-year genuine Bible-believing and Bible-obeying Christians.
